About Jeffrey

A life-long educator, Jeff hails originally from Illinois but has lived in Nashville since graduating from Trevecca Nazarene College, now University with a Bachelor of Science degree in teaching.  His first career was spent in the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools as a 6th grade teacher focusing on helping students think deeply and working with Vanderbilt University implementing the Scools for Thought research initiative. Although completing a master’s degree in educational administration, after a brief time as an acting principal, he chose the classroom as his true love. His second career,  where he currently serves, is as a teacher and administrator for Trevecca Nazarene University.  In addition to his administrative duties, he serves as academic coach for the women’s volleyball team and travels with them to out of state competitions from time to time.

He enjoys connection and communication with the volleyball team and his class of freshmen students and entertains them with his wife in their home each year.  He keeps in touch with many of his former students for years after graduation.

Outside of work, he is a board member and volunteer worker for the nonprofit House2Home Nashville, which provides beds and basic furnishings to recently homeless people. He serves as an usher at  First Church of the Nazarene where he has been a longtime member.

He is a voracious reader, a good cook, and with his wife, Esther, he engages in musical events, especially attending Opera, Symphony, and theater performances in Nashville, New York, and Italy. An avid traveler in the U.S and abroad, he has visited all states and more than 80 countries. Jeff’s interest in Bel Canto is a natural extension of his love for students’ and their learning.
