About Thomas

Thomas Lynch IV is a 24-year-old tenor vocalist from Arlington, VA. Thomas is an alumnus of the Sunderman Conservatory at Gettysburg College, where he graduated with his Bachelor’s of Music in Vocal Performance in May 2024. Thomas has attended two summer programs in Italy: Opera Lucca (2022) and Musica Nelle Marche (2024).

During his junior year, he studied abroad in Vienna, Austria (Fall 2023). Since 2024, Thomas has been a Master’s student at the Eastman School of Music in the studio of Robert Swensen. This May, he will graduate from the Eastman School with his Master’s of Music in Vocal Performance and Literature. At Eastman, he has been featured as a main character in two opera productions, most notably, playing the lead antagonist in Eastman Opera Theatre’s main stage production of Osvaldo Golijov’s “Ainadamar”. Thomas is a 2-time Collegiate-level Chapter NATS Winner, a 2023 Classical Singer Competition Semi-Finalist, and a 2026 Friends of Eastman Opera Competition Finalist.

He is very excited to be joining the 2026 Nashville Bel Canto Opera Scenes Intensive. After his time in Nashville, Thomas will join the Janiec Opera Company in Brevard, NC for their summer season.

The Nashville Bel Canto Foundation proudly offers the fully-funded Italian Opera Scenes Intensive, a scholarship-based program dedicated to cultivating the next generation of opera talent. This immersive course provides singers with the opportunity to deepen their artistry through the study of Italian operatic repertoire and Bel Canto technique.
